Neuropathy

Neuropathy is the pain resulting in the misfiring of nerves, or from the degradation of nerve fibers resulting in pain. There are many causes of neuropathy. The ones I treat most often are chemotherapy-induced and diabetic-induced neuropathy. There is good evidence showing how acupuncture and herbs can treat neuropathy. In two treatments a week for five weeks I can often improve pain values by more than 30%.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years. Using the tiniest of needles that are the width of a hair, acupuncturists place acupuncture needles into appropriate points to treat the initial diagnosis they arrived upon on your initial intake. Based on signs, symptoms, and our diagnostic findings, we determine where there is too much of something in the body preventing it from being in balance and where there is too little of something keeping the body out of balance. Then, we tone or reduce, depending on our findings. The body wants to be in balance, in homeostasis, but we are bombarded with things that make it impossible for our bodies to stay near balanced without support.

When you partner with CCAcupuncture in Longmont, our team will gather your health history and current condition information to come up with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Following your consultation treatment plan, I will implement your treatments using herbs, acupuncture, cupping therapy, dry needling where appropriate, and any other applicable tools.

Possible techniques for your acupuncture treatment plan include:

  • Cupping

  • Acupuncture or Electro-Acupuncture

  • Moxibustion

  • Dry Needling

Anti-Aging

Since our bodies all age differently and we are all at different stages in our aging, your individual treatment plan will be customized and can incorporate a variety of our treatment options. Some of these treatment options include:

  • Celluma Light Therapy

  • Acu-Microneedling

  • Serums

  • Acupuncture

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a tool from Chinese medicine, and it works directly with muscle tissue and tendons. Dry needling is one form of acupuncture needling done to address specific muscle trigger points or injuries at musculotendinous junctions. Most of these points correlate to specific acupuncture points. We needle into trigger points (points in muscles that are dysfunctional), and we get the muscle spindles to fire. When a muscle spindle fires, it goes into full shortening and then can relax out of the trigger point or area of dysfunction. Done consistently, acupuncture dry needling can resolve the areas of dysfunction if they are not permanently damaged by overuse or trauma.

Based on your chief complaint and our treatment plan, we will execute dry needling and other therapies where appropriate to resolve your trigger point and muscle tension issues. Other possible techniques that compliment dry-needling include:

  • Dry Needling

  • Cupping

  • E-Stim/Electro-Acupuncture

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of or tearing of a thick plate of connective tissue that runs along the long arch in the foot. Pain can be just at the heel, along the outside of the foot, or along the entire longitudinal arch of the foot. In any of these stepping down on the feet with this condition first thing in the morning or after sitting for a while, retears or reinflames the tissue needing help. I have extensive experience and success with this condition. Book an appointment and in ten sessions we can make great strides on getting your feet pain-free again.

OTHER THERAPIES WE OFFER

Electro-Acupuncture

Using electricity (like a TENS unit) on acupuncture points or trigger points intensifies the stimulation to that specific point. Rather than manipulate manually with the needles, the electricity manipulates and stimulates the needle/points. In addition, the nervous system is an electrical system. By using electricity, we are influencing the central nervous system. Muscles also operate on electrical charges, and so we are affecting the electricity of the body by utilizing electrical currents.

Celluma LED Light Therapy

Low-level light therapy was originally researched and developed by NASA. Also called photobiostimulation, it is the application of different light waves to the body to obtain healing benefits. It produces natural photo biochemical reactions in the body that increase microcirculation and metabolism. Different wavelengths encourage different reactions in the body. Celluma light therapy can be used for Acne and scarring, joint and muscle pain (including arthritis), or anti-aging properties that benefit collagen and elastin production and increase cell regeneration.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique that uses vacuum-like manipulation. Cupping can pull layers of tissue away from one another that have gotten adhered or stuck together. In addition, it demands fresh blood flow to areas that have become ischemic from overuse or injury.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a heating technique using the herb mugwort. The herb itself has healing properties, the points we use it on have healing properties, and the heat emanating from this technique has infra-red heat components. The combination makes for a powerful warming and healing technique used in Chinese and Japanese medicines.

Acu-Microneedling

Like traditional microneedling, our acu-microneedling pen is similar to those used for micro-needling in med-spas. Our intentions and diagnoses differ, however. We utilize face reading and other diagnostic tools to treat conditions with Chinese Medicine. The serums we use come from Chinese Medicine plants, not chemicals. The best results occur using acu-microneedling with specific serums and adding Celluma Light therapy to your treatments.

Serums with Acu-Microneedling Treatments

There are countless anti-aging serums on the market today. Acu-microneedling utilizes ancient Chinese herbal knowledge to address wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots adding serums to the already powerful micro-needling treatment. All pharmaceuticals originate in herbal medicines. We utilize the original herbal serums used for anti-aging for millennia.

Herbs and Supplements

As stated above, all pharmaceuticals originated from herbal medicines. The difference is the paradigm underlying their use. With Chinese medicine we diagnose to get to the root of an imbalance. We are not interested in masking symptoms. Sometimes, this can help, but it never resolves the actual issue causing problems. With our herbal prescribing, we are attempting to reduce symptoms by resolving the underlying causes of symptoms.
